Disney has confirmed a live-action version of Mulan will be released in 2018.
The film – which was originally released in 1998 and starred Ming-Na Wen as titular character Fa Mulan and Eddie Murphy as small dragon Mushu – is to get a remake which will be a “more nuanced and elaborate” take on the story.
The film is hoped to hit Cinemas on November 2, 2018 with Disney currently on the lookout for a Chinese actress to play the main character.
The studio bought the rights to the movie in 2015 and Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are on board to pen the script Mulan.
This news follows Disney’s confirmation that a remake of The Lion King will also be happening.
Disney admitted the re-imagining of The Lion King will build on the success of similar movies, The Jungle Book, Cinderella and the upcoming Beauty and the Beast.
