Most people were thrilled for Niall Horan following the release of his debut single, This Town, but it seems Simon Cowell wasn’t.
One Direction were signed to Simon’s label Syco but when Niall headed out on his own he signed to rival company Capitol Records.
Niall said at the time: “I’m excited to announce I have signed a record deal with Capitol Records USA and released my first solo song.
“Thank you to all the One Direction fans for your love and support as always. I’m looking forward to the next part of this journey together.”
Simon however seems to be bitter over the move and when he spoke to The Sunday Mirror, he said: “He probably would have had a No 1 single if he’d stayed with me. But you know who does have a No 1 this week? James Arthur. Very pleased he’s back with us with a fantastic record.”
Then he added: “Hashtag loyalty.”
