Records have been broken on Broadway and that’s all down to the leading ladies Sara Bareilles and Bette Midler.
Sara recently joined the cast of the musical Waitress on Friday (31/03/17), the show in which she wrote the music for. The star played four shows this weekend, all of which were sold out and Saturday’s performance brought in $180,000. According to Deadline, this is the most amount of money that has ever been grossed for a single performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
Meanwhile Bette has just started previews in the revival of classic musical Hello, Dolly! The star has played seven performances this week and brought in gross of $1.96 million. This is the biggest grossing week for the Shubert Theatre and it smashed Matilda’s record of $1.9m, achieved with nine performances.
Talk about girl power!
