The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan has insisted that her likely departure from the show in season nine might not be permanent.
It is heavily rumoured that the actress will follow co-star Andrew Lincoln and exit the AMC series. Lauren is said to be leaving so that she can focus on her new ABC action-adventure show Whiskey Cavalier.
Cohan once again stopped short of directly confirming that she’s leaving The Walking Dead in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, but stressed that “Maggie’s story is open-ended”.
“I’m so grateful that this has been my stomping ground for so long,” Cohan said. “And my family here is never gone.”
The publication also indicated that Cohan could return to The Walking Dead as soon as season ten, but that all depends on the success of her other series Whiskey Cavalier.
Showrunner Angela Kang echoed this too, having said earlier this month that she “would love to have her back” at some point.
“We think there’s more story with Maggie to tell,” the writer said. “We already have some plans brewing that I think are pretty cool.”
